The power behind destruction

Pablo Picasso was one of the co-founders of the movement in art known as "Cubism," sometimes recognized as the most influential art movement of the 20th century. I find his work mostly rather difficult to look at. It's just not a style that I care for. But he was terribly influential not only in art but also music and literature - which have always been influenced by the artwork of the day. This piece is entitled "The guitarist"  I don't mind this one. It's a Picasso from 1910 Picasso said, "Every act of creation is first an act of destruction." In light of the recent news involving Nepal, the 7.5 magnitude earthquake and the resulting pictures, I've been thinking about this quote. Before we can make something, we have to have starting materials which sometimes have been created through destruction and then we create with these creations. It's a sort of chain effect. The willingness to seek to BE CHANGED

We should always be seeking correction. That was taught to us by Elder Christofferson of the quorum of the Twelve Apostles. He said: "I would like to speak of one particular attitude and practice we need to adopt if we are to meet Heavenly Father's high expectations. It is this: willingly to accept and even seek correction. Paul said of divine correction and chastening , 'For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth.' Though it is often difficult to endure, truly we ought to rejoice that God considers us worth the time and trouble to correct." (Sidenote, that talk is one of my favorite because he quotes President Brown's story of the currant bush which I find extremely  meaningful. You can find Christofferson's talk here . And his Mormon Message of the same, here .)  I love correction. It is painful in the m

Vision

What is vision? What does it mean to see something not with your eyes but with your heart? The great Bob Marley once said, "Life is one big road with lots of signs. So when you're riding through the ruts, don't complicate your mind. Flee from hate, mischief and jealousy. Don't bury your thoughts, put your vision to reality. Wake up and Live!" I've been thinking a lot lately about the dream I have for myself, the vision if you will of what I want my life to look like. Here are the bolded headings: Covenant keeper Sister, daughter, confidant, and loyal friend Wife Mother Doctor Happy   and wise . What's your vision look like? What's on your dream board for yourself? Recently I have been talking with several friends whose lives haven't quite taken the straight course they expected (or for that matter, the winding course they were sort-of anticipating.) The older I get, the more I realize such is the experience of all of us who walk in this
